MAAP STARS
MAAP STARS – Success, Teamwork, Achievement, Recognition, Self-Esteem, is an organization for students in secondary alternative programs. Every year a handful of Jennings students attend the three statewide events, including the Fall Leadership Conference, Legislative Day, and the Spring Events Conference.
Our students spend all fall and winter preparing for the Spring Events Conference, where they compete with other MN alternative schools in life skills events. In 2009, a group of Jennings students took home first place in the business plan component, and another student took first for the speech component. The first through fifth place awards were won in 2010 by Jennings CLC students for the Career Portfolio component. Our own Jessany Williams, who was a MAAP STARS officer for the 2009-2010 school year, was awarded MAAP student of the year.
