First Step:

 

Instruction Permit

Qualifications:

• At least 15 years old

Second Step:​

​

Take the permit test once classroom instruction is completed. 

​

 

Third Step:

Sign up for behind the wheel instruction. 

​

Fourth Step:

​

Get a Provisional License

 

Qualifications:

• At least 16 years old

• Completed classroom instruction and behind the wheel instruction

• Held the permit for six months with no moving violations or alcohol/substance abuse violations

• Provide a driving log with at least 50 hours of driving, 15 of these at night.  If parent/guardian has completed parent class this is reduced to 40 hours of driving, 15 of these at night.

 

Behind the wheel rules:

• Must have license in your possession when you are driving

• Everyone must wear a seat belt

• May not talk on cell phone or used a hands free cell phone device

• For the first six months, only one passenger under the age of 20 is allowed
